3 Yoga Poses for Holiday Stress
The holiday season is supposed to be a time of celebration. Unfortunately, it often causes anxiety for many people. Just when you’ve finished celebrating Thanksgiving, now you need to shop for holiday gifts, the extra load can make the holidays seem more like a job opposed to celebrating. Yoga is one of the best activities to put your mind at ease.
Seated Forwarded Bend with Strap Pose - This pose is wonderful for stretching and flexibility. This pose also calms your mind and helps relieve stress and anxiety. Sit on your mat with legs extended in front of you. As best as you can, reach forward and place the strap around the balls of your feet and gently tighten your grip so you feel a slight stretch. Hold for several seconds and release. Repeat several times and remember to breathe.
Knees to Chest Pose – Begin by lying on your back with legs extended. As you exhale, bring both knees to your chest and grab your wrist or wrists or forearms if you can with your opposite hand. Keep your back flat on your mat. Hold for several seconds or minutes if you like, release and repeat.
Corpse Pose - Lie back gently on your mat. Use props for under your knees if needed like a blanket or blocks. Extend your arms out to your side or to your stomach. Close your eyes and breathe (I like oceans breath). Stay in this position for five to ten minutes.
Tell yourself that are going to get through the holidays just fine.
