Four Poses for Gentle Movements and Joint Mobility

Get in your comfortable seated position and do your rotations.

These seated poses are great for range of motion, relieving stiffness, and promoting mobility in the joints.

First is Seated Cat-Cow
Sit tall, place hands on knees. Inhale, arch your back, and look up (Cow). Exhale, round your spine, and tuck your chin (Cat). Repeat 4-5 times and remember to breathe.

Next is Seated Side Stretch
Sit tall, extend one arm overhead, and gently lean to the opposite side and stretch the side of your body. Hold for a few seconds and repeat on the other side and repeat 4-5 times. Remember to breathe.

Next is Ankle Circles
Stay seated with one foot off the ground and rotate the ankle in a circle motion, first clockwise, then counterclockwise. Repeat with the ankle. Repeat with 4-5 cycles.

Last movement is Seated Forward Fold
While seated, extend your legs straight or with knees slightly bent. Inhale, lengthen the spine, and on the exhale, fold forward gently, reaching for your feet or shins.

As always, end with your Child’s Pose. You know how to do this pose by now. Always remember to breathe.
