Four Yoga Poses that can Embrace & Cultivate Gratitude
Each of these poses can be paired with a mantra or affirmation like, "I am grateful for the strength within me" or "I embrace the present moment with gratitude."
First is Prayer Pose - Sit comfortably with your spine tall, bringing your palms together in front of your heart. This pose symbolizes gratitude and reverence, creating a moment of stillness to connect inwardly and express thankfulness for the present moment. Focus on your breath and offer silent gratitude for the gift of your practice and all that you have.
Next is Standing Forward Fold with a block. Stand tall, inhale, and as you exhale, fold forward from the hips, letting your head and neck relax. Touch your block. This grounding pose encourages letting go and surrendering to the present moment. Use this moment to reflect on what you're grateful for, releasing any tension as you bow in humility.
Next is Reclining Bound Angle Pose - Lie on your back and bring the soles of your feet together, letting your knees fall out to the sides. Support your knees with a block. This gentle, restorative pose encourages a deep sense of openness and receptivity. In this relaxed state, you can express gratitude for your body and its ability to support you through life.
Lastly, is my favorite, Child’s Pose - You know how to do this pose by now. Remember to use your block to support your forehead. Reflect on something or someone you’re thankful for. It could be something big or small and take a moment to silently acknowledge that feeling of gratitude. Stay here for a few moments, savoring the stillness and the gratitude you’ve cultivated, before slowly rising to a seated position.
