Basil

There are many different types of basils, over 50 to choose from. The most common are sweet basil, purple, lemon, Thai, and small-leaved bush types. Each has different leaf shapes, color, and flavor.

My favor is sweet basil. This culinary basil is great for pesto, sauces, and soups. Most of all, it’s easy to grow.

Benefits of basil:  Basil is great for the prevention of heart disease. The eugenol in basil can block calcium build up, which may lower your blood pressure. The anti-inflammatory properties may also help with digestion. Its natural oils can also lower your cholesterol and triglycerides. The magnesium in basil assists in your blood flow by allowing your blood vessels and muscles to relax.

Skin Health? Yes! The flavonoids and antioxidants can assist in the protection of skin damage and can make you look younger. Now, who wouldn’t want that?
